Hidden among the rocks near Hin Ta and Hin Yai in Lamai, Samui Rock Bar feels less like a bar and more like something people accidentally discover and end up talking about for the rest of their holiday.

Built from bamboo, driftwood and whatever seemed to fit naturally into the surrounding landscape, the venue twists through the rocks overlooking a small bay on the edge of the sea. Cushions, platforms, hidden corners and reggae music create an atmosphere that's completely different from the busy bars found elsewhere on the island. The venue is famous for its laid-back vibe, fire shows, live music and sunsets, attracting a mix of travellers, locals and long-time Samui regulars.

The menu includes Thai food, drinks, cocktails and beachside favourites, but most people come for the setting. Spend the afternoon with a cold drink overlooking the water, watch the sky change colour as the sun drops lower, and settle in for an evening of music and island atmosphere.
