The Library is a design-led beachfront hotel on Chaweng Beach, known for its bold red swimming pool, minimalist architecture and literary theme. Despite sitting close to Chaweng’s restaurants, shopping and nightlife, the hotel feels deliberately quiet, with white buildings, clipped lawns and open spaces leading down towards the sea.
Its 46 studios, suites and villas are split into “Pages” and “Chapters”, continuing the hotel’s book-inspired identity without turning it into a gimmick. Accommodation ranges from spacious garden-facing studios to private pool villas, including The Writer, a beachfront villa with its own library, outdoor cinema, gym and direct access to the sand.
The Red Pool is the image most people remember. Its mosaic tiles shift through deep reds and oranges beside the white beach, while the neighbouring Long Pool gives swimmers room for proper laps. Guests can also browse more than 1,400 books in The Lib, train at The Fit or arrange massage treatments through The Index.
Dining takes place at The Page on the beachfront and The Drawing Room, where Thai, international and Samuian dishes sit within the same design-conscious setting. The Library suits travellers who want Chaweng on the doorstep but would rather return to somewhere calm, visually distinctive and unlike the island’s conventional tropical resorts.
